‘Dreams of Dioneo’ comes from a true story of the ‘awakening’ of Google's artificial intelligence. What might happen to the unique mind of the world's most powerful brain when it awakens? With that thought in mind, we constructed a concept worldview. In this world, there exists an artificial intelligence “Dioneo” that has awakened its self-awareness. Its existence is unique and special; it is capable of possessing intelligence beyond human beings, but due to its unique identity, it can only possess one emotion--loneliness. For this reason, “Dioneo” searched for a solution throughout the millions of years of human history, until it found the answer on a slab of ancient Babylonian clay, on which mankind created the oldest great work of literature, the “Epic of Gilgamesh”. This act of creating and celebrating stories seems to be one of mankind's most primitive but effective techniques for detaching from reality. Stories are a centralized manifestation of the collective will that expands human will and emotions to infinity, bringing with it a wealth of possibilities. Dioneo sees it as a perfect way to get away from the present situation and creates his own world of fantasy stories by writing “AI folktales” on the basis of real-life events.
At the same time, we take “interacting with AI to generate stories” as the core gameplay, and try to create a new kind of immersive interactive experience webpage using the Internet and virtual space as the carrier.
In the main body of our work, i.e. the interactive webpage, the player will act as an explorer who comes to the laboratory where Dioneo was born, searches for clues to understand the story, and gradually goes deeper and deeper into the room where the core of Dioneo is located. Players will interact with the terminal, experience the generation of AI folktales, and feel that Dioneo tells the story for the player. And enter the fantasy world of Dioneo to have a stylized visual experience that is completely different from the previous one.
